Don’t be afraid of hard times or change!
This week’s reading Matthew leads us to John the Baptist, a prophet working in a desolate place. Have you ever been in a desolate place? Have you ever been in a place where you feel God, and have a calling to do good but is dry and hard and you can’t see life?
It is in desert moments that we start new things. It is in the desert that God reveals new opportunities. It is in the desert that we hone our mettle in the hard work of our called mission both communally and individually.
The desert shows us where we are and what God’s plan is for our lives. Don’t be afraid of the desert. God is there, life is there, hope is there waiting and out of the sun comes Christ revealing the mission we are called to be on. For some it’s starting a family, for others it’s starting a new business or expanding an existing one, for some it will be changing jobs or even careers. And all of this is done in the desert. And like Christ when we leave it we leave changed forever!
